Hello everybody! After a short hiatus, I’m very pleased to be back and able to welcome musician, producer, engineer and artist manager Bruce Duff into the Sonic Garage!
At Knitting Factory Management, Bruce oversees the careers of some of today’s coolest bands like The Two Tens, Prima Donna, Beastmaker, Radio Moscow and the Nervous Wreckords. Bruce is extremely passionate about each and every artist he works with and he’s very excited to see how 2017 plays out, as all of the bands he’s involved with have albums being released this year! So, it should be an incredible year for Bruce and it would be really awesome to see one or more of the talented bands he manages break out big this year!
Bruce is also the owner of his own studio – Toneduff, and over the last 30-plus years, Bruce has had the pleasure of playing with, producing and engineering artists such as The Two Tens, Prima Donna, Circle, Redd Kross, 45 Grave, Thor, The Streetwalkin, Cheetahs, Sweet Justice, Jeff Dahl and many, many more!
As I was preparing for my interview with Bruce, I checked out the album ‘Fun at the Funeral’ which was released in 1986, by Jesters of Destiny, a band Bruce co-founded in 1984. The album really blew me away and I was really surprised that it was something that I didn’t hear back when it was first released. They were a bit ahead of their time and their unique blend of metal, psychedelic rock and pop might have found a larger audience had it been released a few years later.
Well, fast forward 30 years and Bruce’s musical career has really come full circle with the April 7 release of ‘The Sorrows that Refuse to Drown’ which is Jesters of Destiny’s first new album in 30 years! That’s right, they’re back and this new album is really cool and definitely one that all of you listeners out there should check out right away! As you might expect, this album is very special to Bruce, since Jesters is the one band out of all that he’s been a part of that has been the most creatively his. Congratulations, Bruce!
Thanks for listening to the show and I hope you enjoy Bruce’s interview!
