Episode 55 Richard Furch

Stopping by the Sonic Garage to speak with me this week is multiple Grammy award-winning audio engineer Richard Furch!

Growing up in Germany, Richard knew from an early age that he wanted to make music a big part of his life, first as a musician himself, and a bit later as an engineer.  After attaining his initial audio degree in Berlin, he made the big decision to move to the U.S. to be a part of the music that he grew up loving and wanted to make himself.

Since his arrival in America, Richard has been on quite a ride, and he has been blessed with many opportunities to work with a number of music industry legends, some of whom he has been lifelong fans of.

Richard operates out of his own mixHaus Studios located in beautiful Los Angeles, California and he was an early pioneer in the business of remote mixing.  He maintains a steady stream of world-class mixing projects to this day and is always ready to take on new and diverse engineering projects.   Because of his continued love for making music, Richard enjoys pushing himself to newer heights and ever adding new knowledge and techniques to his engineering and mixing repertoire.

I enjoyed my conversation with Richard and I really hope you enjoy listening to his interview!

Episode 38 Hillary Johnson

Joining me as my special guest on the show this week is producer and audio engineer Hillary Johnson, from New York, New York.

Hillary has been actively recording since the early 90’s, and above everything else, she relishes every opportunity she gets to be in the studio doing what she loves most: making records with talented musicians.

Over the course of her career, Hillary has broadened her skills immensely and puts just as much emphasis on having great people skills as having great audio engineering chops.  These days, Hillary does just about everything as it relates to working in the music industry, from engineering, producing, and mastering,  to live sound, and even working as a tech.  If that wasn’t enough, Hillary is also a talented web and graphic designer, and has created some very nice websites for artists, bands, and even recording studios.  And if you’re in the New York City area, you might even catch Hillary DJ’ing someplace!

After speaking with Hillary, it’s apparent how passionate she is about what she does and I hope she gets to continue making records with bands she loves for many more years to come!

Thanks again to everybody who has been listening to and spreading the word about the show, I appreciate it very much!

Please enjoy Hillary’s interview, and have a great week!
